Viva Las Vegas - Official Launch of the Project AWARE DOXA SUB

DEMA 2008 - Las Vegas

Official Launch of the Project AWARE DOXA SUB

This was the perfect opportunity to officially unveil the Project AWARE DOXA SUB to folks outside of the DOXA community, and to say it was a hit is a bit of an understatement!

What was particulary interesting was meeting up with people who remembered having a DOXA as their first dive watch - and I am talking about DOZENS of people! Needless to say, there might be quite a few new Forum members in the coming weeks!

We were pleased to unveil this watch with the help of Tiffany Leite who is the Manager for Communications and Outreach for the Project AWARE Foundation. And as always it was great to catch up with our great friend, field tester and DOXA Ambassador - Karl Shreeves.
Tiffany Leite (L) Karl Shreeves (R)

The Project AWARE SUB is our first ever co-branded SUB to directly benefit a non-profit/ charitable initiative, and the feedback from the folks in attendance was really something!

We also got to catch up with some PADI and Project AWARE folks from Europe Jack Lavanchy (President of PADI Europe) and Thomas Sobotta (Manager of Project AWARE Europe) were on hand to lend their support.
An extra-special thank-you to:
Jenny Miller Garmendia - Director - Project AWARE Foundation
Dr. Drew Richardson - President and Chief Operating Officer of PADI Worldwide
Brian P. Cronin - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer - PADI
Kristin Valette - Director - Marketing and Communications - PADI
And once again - a thank you to EVERYONE at Project AWARE and PADI for making us so welcome at the event, and for their enthusiastic support of this project!

The Project AWARE DOXA SUB - A special watch for an important cause

We have been working on something very special here at DOXA for quite some time and now we are finally ready to tell everyone about it!
DOXA and Project AWARE will be cooperating to produce a limited series release of 92 Project AWARE DOXA SUBs.
Yes, this will be a highly limited watch, will increase in value, will be much sought after, etc... But that really isn't the story here - although it doesn't hurt!

No, the story here is Project AWARE Foundation and the important work that they are doing. Project AWARE Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving underwater environments through education, advocacy and action.
With headquarters in the United States and offices in Australia, Japan, Switzerland and United Kingdom, Project AWARE combats challenges facing aquatic resources in 175 countries and territories with direct support from divers and water enthusiasts worldwide.

Project AWARE and dedicated volunteers are committed to conservation initiatives including:

Underwater Cleanups and Marine Debris Prevention
Coral Reef Conservation Monitoring and Data Collection
Shark Education Reporting and Conservation
Improved Management Policies and Marine Protection Efforts
Environmental Training for Divers
Education Programs for Kids

The Power of an Idea -

Back in 1989, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) hit upon the very heart of what would come to drive Project AWARE - know to many as "the AWARE philosophy" - Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education - to stress divers' roles in conserving these environments and create a group of effective environmental advocates.

John J. Cronin, the Founder of PADI was at the forefront of this movement, and the power of that idea lives on today.

A Watch that Gives Something Back -

In recognition of the fantastic work that Project AWARE continues to do DOXA is proud to produce this special SUB. And to say thank you in our own small way, DOXA will be donating a percentage of every Project AWARE DOXA SUB sold to Project AWARE Foundation. 92 of these special watches will be made available for sale - in recognition of 1992, the year Project AWARE got rolling as a Non-Profit organization.
This is one of those rare opportunities as a watch collector where you can not only get a rare and limited watch, but you can also do something good!

The Project AWARE DOXA SUB will retail for $2,390.00 and has begun to ship.

TUSA SUB Sells out in Record Time!

As quickly as it arrived, the DOXA TUSA SUB sold out! The watch was limited to 100 pieces total, with only 50 pieces available for sale to the general public.

Thanks for you continued support of DOXA!

Worlds Longest Unassisted Arctic Expedition

DOXA - Official Timekeeper of the TISO Trans Greenland Expedition.

DOXA was pround to serve as the Official Timekeeper for the TISO Trans Greenland Expedition this past summer. July 16th saw the completion of this arduous journeyAlex Hibbert (21) and George Bullard (19) of Great Britain completed a 1374 mile expedition across Greenland in the Tiso Trans Greenland Expedition. JuneThis is the longest, fully unsupported polar expedition in history. And DOXA is extremely proud to have been a part of it.

DOXA supplied a DOXA SUB 1000T Professional and 750T professional for use by the pair, and according to Alex Hibbert – “The watches were faultless. Brilliant!. A little dirtier than they began (!)”

In an un-forgiving environment such as this, an accurate time keeper is paramount to survival, and can be the difference between making your next landmark, or disaster.
